Large NeoAir (it’s wider than regular) that’s cut down to torso length at just under 10oz. (Cut more off, now 8.9oz)
Zero leaks, been great for multiple nights on trail since. This is a stupid easy to do.
(Did puncture it in the desert route finding in the Escalante — impossible to repair in field — was cold but I didn’t die — repaired at home in a bathtub with some silicone seam sealant).
I used Suluk46’s video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kumSl-cbLlY
Took me all of 10 minutes.
I think the biggest advantage, even more than weight savings (~6oz) is the reduced effort and energy to blow this thing up. Nothing worse than being exhausted at the end of the day and having to work inside your shelter.
A long hike (the Wonderland Trail) motivated me to do this project (along with going nocook). Woo!!
