16 Days, S. France, Sept

Context: Chilling out for 16 days in Nice, Antibes, and Cassis with my wife and toddler to extend summer. Daily beach vibes, evening markets, will cook plenty of food ourselves in our various apartment-style accommodations.

Goals: Not look too too stupid, able to eat out in casual restaurants without concern, lots of daily walking/strollering, reduce sunburns. Not trying to have Michelin level dining experiences, just don’t want to look out of place at a nice art museum.

What You’re Not Seeing: I’ll stuff the remainder of my bag (video contains what I wore inside the bag, so plenty of space) with a week of diapers and baby clothes. We’re bringing a light weight but tall enough for me to be comfortable stroller. We have laundry in every stay on our trip.

Unlisted vid of me unpacking it with everything in there, including what I’ll be wearing (forgot my hat on my head): https://youtu.be/PrtLRKOC8AA The video is edited to 1.25x speed, does not include passport or credit cards, and I think I forgot the headphones as well but they are pictured.

Other Random Thoughts:

— None of my clothing is “travel” clothing, it’s my daily stuff. But most of it is movement focused, easy to wash, and volume-efficient, because these days I naturally look for these properties when making new purchases.
— Novelty is best experienced through the place I’m visiting, not the combination of clothing I can be seen in.
— In any semi-developed area with 50,000+ people, obtaining everyday items is relatively straightforward. I can always buy it there (sunscreen, for example).
— Aesthetically, having a pack 60% full “feels better”. I’m not a fan of a stuffed to the brim pack. I also don’t live nomadically while onebagging, so my lists can get hyper specific and therefore very minimal. No judgement to you perpetual travelers with a lot more contingency planning required. In my case, though, I can really keep the stuff I bring to the bare minimum, again solving for problems on the fly if I need to (super rare ime).
